The main equipment of industrial titanium slag furnace adopts a closed fixed furnace type.
Process characteristics: Titanium slag smelting is selected from baked electrodes. Because there is no need to increase the plant investment due to the cost of the electrode, the cycle of titanium slag electric furnace smelting is long (each furnace smelting time ≥ 8 hours), the continuity of the electrode is required to be high, and the comprehensive cost of electrode paste and electrode shell of self-baking electrode is low.
Main Application of Titanium Slag Furnace
The principle of producing titanium slag in an electric furnace titanium slag furnace is to mix ilmenite with solid reducing agent (anthracite or coke, etc.) in a certain proportion and add it to an electric furnace for reduction smelting.
The iron oxide in the ore is selectively reduced to metallic iron, while titanium oxide is enriched in the slag.
After separation of slag and iron, titanium slag and by-product metallic iron are obtained.

1. Fully enclosed industrial titanium slag furnace: The titanium slag smelting electric furnace adopts a fully enclosed furnace type, equipped with a high-temperature gas purification system, the furnace body structure adopts a circular or rectangular shape, and the power supply system adopts an AC power supply.
2. Self-baking electrode, the electrode lifting adopts hydraulic manual and computer-controlled automatic lifting, the electrode is clamped by a cone ring, the conductive plate hydraulic cylinder is loosened, and two sets of friction rings and lifting cylinders are used to achieve automatic fixed-length pressing and release, and the electrode distribution circle diameter can be adjusted.
3. The industrial titanium slag furnace short network ( bus bar system) adopts a water-cooled compensator, a water-cooled copper tube, a water-cooled cable and a water-cooled conductive plate, and adopts a new energy-saving short net structure with an outer triangle layout.
4. Automatic feeding control system. The feeding system is a high-level silo chute feeding or manual feeding in front of the furnace.
5. Circulating water cooling, and the equipment is required to have a high-level backup water system to prevent damage to parts caused by sudden power outages, and an over-temperature automatic alarm system is used.
6. High-temperature video monitoring technology for the furnace.
7. The titanium slag electric furnace transformer adopts low-loss energy-saving transformer, no-load electric voltage regulation, strong oil circulation water cooling and equipped with complete oil temperature and gas protection devices.
8. Automatic electrode extension system, advanced electrode control system. Electrode pressure release control adopts PLC control, and electrode lifting and lowering adopts manual control to achieve three-phase power balance.
9. The smoke box adopts a fully enclosed split water-cooling structure, including an outer edge low-carbon steel water-cooling section and 3 sets of central stainless steel water-cooling sections. A stainless steel sealing sleeve is installed at the electrode entrance on the upper edge of the smoke box.

Titanium Slag Furnace Smelting Process

The titanium slag electric furnace is the main equipment in the production of titanium slag. Its function is to serve as a container for the reduction reaction of titanium concentrate and the separation of slag and iron. Its furnace lining can be divided into three parts: the upper part of the molten pool, the molten pool section and the furnace bottom. The upper part of the molten pool is built with high-alumina bricks, and the molten pool section and the furnace bottom are built with magnesia bricks.

The existing titanium slag electric furnace smelting process is divided into intermittent smelting, continuous smelting and continuous method of electrode air feeding according to the characteristics of the molten pool, and the feeding method is divided into open electric furnace, closed electric furnace and semi-closed electric furnace.

Different smelting processes are selected according to different requirements. The pressure control requirements in the electric furnace are relatively high, and the explosion-proof holes on the furnace cover play a role in maintaining a certain pressure. Temperature measuring thermocouples are installed in different places in the furnace layer of the electric furnace to measure the temperature of the refractory materials at various positions to determine the degree of erosion of the refractory materials.

After the electric furnace has the conditions for opening the furnace for smelting, the order of opening the furnace is electric furnace baking, lining preheating, furnace wall slag hanging, slag discharge, and iron discharge. After the iron is discharged, the iron outlet should be blocked.

Then the slag is discharged, and the slag water flows into the slag basin, and the slag in the slag basin is transported to the slag cooling area for cooling.
